On the Road with Two ICL Staff
On September 23, New York State Assemblyman Darryl C. Towns gathered representatives from healthcare and human services agencies for the “Health Disparities Affecting Minority Women” in Brooklyn. The forum was an opportunity to discuss strategies on improving minority health and for eliminating health disparities within and across the priority areas of cardiovascular (heart) disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, infant mortality, mental health and obesity, as well as lung and liver diseases. Dialogue centered on interagency collaboration, development of comprehensive systems with family involvement and development of culturally-competent systems of care.

Yvonne Graham, Brooklyn Deputy Borough President, keynoted the event. Two forum presenters were from ICL: Adam Chaiken, LCSW-R, Vice President, Outpatient Programs, and Marcia Titus-Prescott, RNC, Associate Director of Nursing, Integrated Health.
