Dr. Sharon Sorrentino

Senior Vice President of Residential Services

Sharon Sorrentino achieved her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (with a specialization in child and adolescent psychology) from St. John’s University in June of 2000. She is currently the Senior Vice President of Residential Services at ICL.

Prior to her current role, Sharon served as the Vice President for Family, Youth, and Young Adult Services in the Residential Treatment Division, overseeing all of ICL’s Family Residential Housing in addition to Child and Young Adult Residential Programs, HIV and Community Support Programs and CR/SRO’s. Sharon has worked for ICL since 2001 and in the field for over 25 years. Her professional history also includes her role as the Director of ICL’s School Based Mental Health Program at P.S. 13 and the Associate Vice President for Child and Family Services at ICL. Sharon has also worked as the Managed Care Liaison, Quality Assurance Specialist, and Staff Psychologist at the New Hope Guild/East New York Clinic.

Sharon has experience with the authorization of managed care services, clinical supervision, staff training, audit preparation, chart review, adoption and foster care issues, complex developmental trauma and trauma responsive interventions, program development and start-up, crisis intervention and outpatient psychotherapy. She has worked in hospital, residential, and outpatient programs. She was a master-level, certified trainer for the Crisis Prevention Institute’s Non-Violent Therapeutic Crisis Intervention curriculum. At ICL, Sharon has been involved in many Evidence Based and Best Practices initiatives. She has assisted in the development of supervision, trauma responsive care, and documentation training for the agency, provided consultation and training on the use of assessments in outpatient and residential services, and has helped to develop and conduct many trainings and presentations for ICL staff and others in the field.
