Trauma-informed care (TIC) is the new frontier of good clinical care. The key to TIC is to create services supports, and an organizational culture and environment that are sensitive to the impact of trauma for every person, including customers and staff. The National Council of Behavioral Health has recognized TIC and has created the Trauma-Informed Practices Learning Community. ICL participated in this community and since, has initiated TIC into its own programs and services with the creation of the STEPS Program. STEPS, represents a paradigm shift that is changing the way we at ICL view the individuals we serve and ourselves.
